“My name's Stella! I'm a Sparkle sprite who watches over this theater! And you are...Peach? What a great name! With the power of Sparkle on our side, we'll take back the play, and the show will go on!”
Stella,Princess Peach: Showtime!

Stella is the secondary protagonist and the guardian ofSparkle Theater inPrincess Peach: Showtime! She is aSparkle sprite with a yellow, star-shaped head and a deep turquoise outfit consisting of a dress and a ribbon. Her name is a play on "stellar", a term that refers to stars in general or star performers and an adjective that means "outstanding".

History[edit]

Princess Peach: Showtime![edit]

AfterGrape and theSour Bunch take over the theater, Stella requestsPrincess Peach's help to reclaim it. The bands of her ribbon can extend to help Peach interact with enemies and elements of scenery, and Stella herself can magically grant Peach new transformations. She wears a ribbon at all times.

Stella's color when flying around and when Sparkle is used corresponds to the ribbon she is wearing, which can be selected in the Wardrobe in the pause menu (while in the Sparkle Theater). During Peach's transitions from Sparkle to a transformation, she is instead light blue with white gradients.

She use the leftover laces from her ribbon bows as combined wings and arms. She continuously flaps with them when standing still, and uses them as arms for posing when buying a ribbon from theLobby Shop or when changing to a different ribbon in the Wardrobe menu. The laces also follow her when she moves fast to catch up to Peach, during which she becomes a sparkling glow with no face or dress.

She is usually seen smiling, surprised, or frowning. Only sporadically does she take more assertive stances, such as refusing to let Peach leave BF if she has not finishedThe Dark Swordfighter & the Arena yet.

In the first half of the game she occasionally express hopes that a stage will be friendly and without problems, most noticeably inA Snow Flower on Ice andMelody of the Sea, eventually being proven wrong on all such occasions. In the second half of the game where Peach starts most levels already in her transformations, Stella leaves Peach mostly alone during non-boss stages but still provides hints and stage-entry plot dialogues.

AfterIt's Showtime, Grape!, Peach can choose to buy a large goldenstatue of Stella, more than twice the height of Peach, as a Sparkle Theater decoration, from the green-shirtedLobby Shop staffer. The statue will then be placed in the center of 1F.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]

A Legend-classprimary spirit of Peach and Stella together was added toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate during the "Showtime and Wonder Spirits!" spirit event that began on the same day asPrincess Peach: Showtime!'s release. In theirspirit battle, Stella is represented by a tiny, yellowKirby, and the battle is set inLuigi's Mansion, which represents the Sparkle Theater. Throughout the battle,Assist Trophies representing three transformations fromShowtime! appear: Lyn, representingSwordfighter Peach; Chef Kawasaki, representingPatissiere Peach; and Akira, representingKung Fu Peach. This is the only spirit battle in the game where multiple different Assist Trophies appear.

Super Mario Run[edit]

A statue of Stella and Peach also appears inSuper Mario Run's Kingdom Builder, which was made available during thePrincess Peach: Showtime! event that began an hour after the start of the spirit event inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate (though it was added to the notebook silhouetted alongside the other event items as part of the game's version 3.2.0 update released a week prior on March 15, 2024). The statue is unlocked after completing all nine Princess Peach missions. Stella also appears as the missions icon during the event.
