TheStandard Bike is a type ofbike introduced inMario Kart Wii. The Standard Bike is seen as a counterpart to theStandard Kart as it is balanced in stats. It resembles the bike inExcitebike.

Mario Kart series[edit]
Mario Kart Wii[edit]
The Standard Bike made its first appearance inMario Kart Wii. Much like the Standard Kart, each size class has its own Standard Bike, being namedStandard Bike S for the small size,Standard Bike M for the medium size, andStandard Bike L for the large size. Standard Bikes perform similar to Standard Karts stat-wise, as small characters have better handling and acceleration while large characters have higher top speed and weight. All Standard Bikes aredrift type bikes, and their appearances are different between size classes. They are equipped with single cylinder four-stroke engines. The emblem is located on the front and sides of the bike.

Mario Kart 8 /Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]
The Standard Bike returns inMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe, being the only bike to return. It is redesigned to have a more modern look, resembling a late-2000s dirtbike. The side emblems have been moved closer to the front. In this game, the Standard Bike appears as one of the selectable vehicle parts for customization, they also can have custom tires and gliders. Unlike the Standard Kart, the Standard Bike alters stats slightly, raising the acceleration and handling stats, while lowering weight and traction. It shares its stats withPipe Frame,Wild Wiggler,Flame Rider,Varmint,W 25 Silver Arrow, andCity Tripper.
This is the only bike body used by CPU-players other thanMario,Link,Female Villager, andIsabelle in the originalMario Kart 8.
CPU-controlled lightweight characters (with the exception ofLarry andWendy) always pair the Standard Bike withStandard tires, middleweight characters (in addition to Larry, Wendy, andLink) always use theSlim tires (althoughDaisy can alternately be seen using theMonster tires instead), and heavyweight characters (with the exception of Link) always use theMonster tires (althoughWaluigi can also be seen using the Slim tires).
InMario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Standard Bike's stats have been altered, and are now exclusively shared with theFlame Rider,W 25 Silver Arrow, andWild Wiggler. Additionally, CPUInkling Boys and Girls are always seen using Monster tires like heavyweights instead of Slim tires like other middleweights.Baby Peach,Baby Daisy, andCat Peach now use thePlane Glider with this bike body instead of theSuper Glider. More CPUs are also seen using other bike bodies than the standard version as well.

Mario Kart World[edit]
The Standard Bike returns inMario Kart World. No longer resembling a dirtbike, it is now redesigned into a vintage-style bike, similar to theZip Zip/Rapide and theBit Bike fromMario Kart Wii. There are spots where stickers can be placed further back on the sides of the bike.
In terms of stats, the Standard Bike has the best acceleration, but it has average handling and the lowest top speed in the game. It is also very light, making it vulnerable to being pushed about by heavier vehicles. It shares its stats with theCute Scoot andTune Thumper.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
In theSuper Smash Bros. series, there are a few collectible items of a Standard Bike. InSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, there is a collectibletrophy of Mario performing atrick on a Standard Bike, as it appears inMario Kart Wii. The trophy is obtained by havingDr. Mario unlocked and clearing theOh Yeah, Luigi Time! event. InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Standard Bike is a Novice-class supportspirit, requiring one free support slot. The image used to represent the spirit is theMario Kart Wii artwork featuringWaluigi on the bike. Fighters equipped with the spirit have increased movement speed, but only at 0% damage. The spirit'spuppet fighters are a team of fourWarios with increased move speed and powerful side specials, and the battle takes place on theFigure-8 Circuit stage.

Notes[edit]
- InMario Kart 8, the standard bike features a part of the engine that looks like a? Block, with another engine part that resembles aMushroom above it.
- The Mushroom part resembles the Mushroom Piston, which appears in advertisements within the courses and on the loading screen of the game.
- InMario Kart 8, the only character who does not have a black seat on their bike is thefemale Villager, who has a brown seat.
- Tanooki Mario's Standard Bike inMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe has an exhaust pipe that is painted to look like his tail, which could be a pun on the term "tailpipe". HisStandard Kart also has this.
