Spoings[1] are enemies that appear inSuper Mario Galaxy andSuper Mario Galaxy 2. They are fuzzy, brown-striped alien spiders that attack by hopping in place, are close relatives of the gray-coloredSpangler, and both resemble the recurringScuttlebug enemy.
History[edit]

Along with the original methods to defeat them, they can now also be defeated byYoshi'sswallow attack. They appear inTall Trunk Galaxy's first two missions, as well as all missions ofFlip-Out Galaxy.
Naming[edit]
Etymology[edit]
The English name "Spoing" is a portmanteau between "spider" and "boing," in reference to its jumping behavior. The roots of the Japanese name are similar.
