Spin Turn

ASpin Turn (orspin turn),^[1] originally hyphenated asSpin-Turn,^[2] is a driving mechanic that debuts inMario Kart 64 and returns in all later games of theMario Kart series. When the accelerate and brake buttons are pressed while akart,bike, orATV is at a standstill, the vehicle can pivot around, creating very precise maneuvers. While spin-turning is not a common tactic to use while racing, in nonlinear arenas such as those used in theBattle mode, it is used to quickly change directions and aim items better.

InMario Kart: Double Dash!!, a Spin Turn is performed by holding L Button , R Button , and A Button and turning while at a standstill.

InMario Kart Wii only, aMini-Turbo can be activated by using Spin Turns.
