TheSpin Strike is an enhanced version of astomp that appears inSuper Mario Run. It is performed by tapping the screen while near and above an enemy. The playable character stomps on that enemy without having to land on them, then jumps while spinning with their arms tucked in. If this jump reaches the maximum height, then the user ends that jump with a split. If not, then the spin continues as the user descends but ends quickly. Despite the name, the Spin Strike has no relation to theMidair Spin. Characters who cannot Midair Spin can still use the Spin Strike.Luigi'sscuttle andPeach'sFloaty Jump override the split animation.

In short, a Spin Strike extends the reach of a normal stomp. Note that this is being done without moving the player over the stomped enemy, meaning the Spin Strike can make the player miss items likecoins placed directly above that enemy when performed early. The Spin Strike cannot be used on objects or on enemies that cannot be stomped. It cannot be used on enemies currently inside the ground, which mostly applies toSwoops but also applies toRocky Wrench while they are fully underneath their manholes. (Boom Boom appears to take damage from the increased range, but this does not prompt the spinning animation.) The Spin Strike can be used to stomp enemies while in aSlope Slide, a state where characters normally defeat enemies without stomping them.

Spin Strikes arestylish moves, and thus produce blue stars that contribute to starting aCoin Rush. This stacks with stomping, which is already a stylish move.

One less obvious use for the Spin Strike is thatKoopa Shells andBuzzy Shells are easier to stomp on multiple times in succession using this move. It also allows one to stomp on resting shells, as inSuper Mario Run kicking takes priority over stomping in regards to them.
