Spin-Lift Drift (parsedSpin Lift Drift in the British English version) is the third level ofWorld 4 found inYoshi's New Island. This level's playableYoshi is the Light Blue Yoshi. The level is primarily focused aroundSpin-Lifts to traverse terrain. This level marks the only appearance ofGoombas in the game. This is the last level in the game to use STAGE_BOSSA as its level music.

Layout[edit]

Light Blue Yoshi starts the level in a forest with someWarp Pipes, a green spin-lift, and aKoopa Paratroopa. Above the first green spin-lift hovers anEgg Block, where Light Blue Yoshi can use an egg to collect coins (andRed Coins) next to surrounding Warp Pipes. Past this Koopa Paratroopa arePiranha Plants that pop out of Warp Pipes and aGoomba with a pipe nearby. Light-Blue Yoshi can use a Koopa Shell to defeat this line of Piranha Plants and Goombas and reveal a hidden Winged Cloud, which contains the level's firstSmiley Flower. Past this is a set of three red spin-lifts and aWinged Cloud above; this Winged Cloud releases stars when struck. Another set of green spin-lifts contains a Piranha Plant, as well as a Piranha Plant that appears on the top Warp Pipe. Defeating this Piranha Plant allows Light Blue Yoshi to access the top Warp Pipe, which leads to an area which contains green and red spin-lifts that move in opposite directions, where further spin-lifts are smaller, as well as coins and the level's second Smiley Flower. This area drops Light Blue Yoshi past, where a bouncing green Koopa Paratroopa is encountered. Just before the second area of the level is a Winged Cloud that drops stars when hit.

The second area contains aCheckpoint Ring. Several more bouncing green Koopa Paratroopas impede Light Blue Yoshi's path as well as a green Koopa Troopa. Light Blue Yoshi can use a Koopa Shell to defeat Goombas underneath crevices, obtain anextra life and rush until the Yoshi can step on a! Switch to help guide the Koopa Shell to the level's second Smiley Flower, guarded by a red Koopa Troopa. Past this Smiley Flower is anEgg Block and a large green Spin-Lift with a Winged Cloud hovering nearby along with aWhirly Gate below. This Winged Cloud causes coins to spawn, alongside some Red Coins. The Whirly Gate transforms Light Blue Yoshi intoMine-Cart Yoshi, which must complete the obstacle course for Light Blue Yoshi to obtain some Red Coins as well as the level's Smiley Flower. The level's fourth Smiley Flower is guarded by a Piranha Plant inhabiting one of the Warp Pipes above, where Light Blue Yoshi can use the large green to obtain. The last section of the level contains three large red spin-drifts that have various Winged Clouds, green bouncing Koopa Paratroopas, and two Warp Pipe that spawns Shy Guys, the first having green Shy Guys and the last being red. The first Winged Cloud spawns coins, the second Winged Cloud gives Light Blue Yoshi an extra life, and the third Winged Cloud spawns stars. After this area is theGoal Ring.
