TheSpecial Event Space (known as theDead-End Space inMario Party: Island Tour and parsed asDead End Space in the British English version of said game) is a kind ofspace inMario Party: Island Tour andMario Party 10.
InMario Party: Island Tour, the space appears inPerilous Palace Path,Shy Guy's Shuffle City, andBowser's Peculiar Peak as the very last space of each board. When the player passes on the space, they are forced to stop until they clear an event, after which the space will allow the player to continue progressing.
In Perilous Palace Path, it appears at the end where the player must face aWhomp. They must roll a 6 to defeat it and win the game. If a lower number is rolled, the Whomp still takes damage, but squishes the player. They try again on their next turn. The next time the player challenges the Whomp, the number they need to roll decreases.
In Shy Guy's Shuffle City, the player must choose a card, consisting of two cards that let the player win and the other six, labeled, "Sorry!," make the player go back three spaces. The cards are randomized each time and if an incorrect card was picked last time, the number of cards to choose to win decrease.
Bowser's Peculiar Peak's Dead-End Space has the player encounter Bowser in the Bowser Challenge at the end of the board. If the player rolls a 1, 2, or 3, Bowser smacks out that number of platforms the player is standing on, but if they roll a 4, 5, 6, or any number already rolled before, Bowser hammers out the player, resulting in their loss.
InMario Party 10, only one Special Event Space appears in the entire game inChaos Castle, replacing the normal Homestretch! event and leading the player to the third segment of the board.
Special Event Spaces look and behave identically to theCaptain Event Spaces inMario Party 9.
