TheSpace Zone is alocation inSuper Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. It is one of the six main zones, and the Space Zone is accessed by clearing theHippo stage. In this zone,Mario dons a space suit and explores themoon and its surrounding stars, subjecting him to reduced gravity fields that increase his jump height but decrease his speed and traction. The golden coin of the Space Zone is guarded byTatanga.

The moon can be seen smiling in the overworld map for the zone; once the zone's secret course is unlocked, a shooting star will hit it, changing its expression to a frowning and more gloomy one (referencing the 1902 French filmA Trip to the Moon). If the player clears the secret course, the moon's angry expression will be changed to an embarrassed one.
