Slow Go is abadge inPaper Mario andPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. InPaper Mario, it is found in a hidden room inDry Dry Ruins, near theSuper Hammer. InPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, it can be bought fromCharlieton for twelvecoins in the original game and sixty coins in theNintendo Switch remake. It can be sold for 5 coins. If equipped,Mario becomes unable to run, forcing him to always walk until the badge is unequipped. This does not affect him while he is ridingYoshi Kid (except for the remake, which significantly slows both of them down if equipped).
The Slow Go Badge does not seem to serve any purpose, but it can be used effectively in specific situations. InPaper Mario,Tubba Blubba's Castle contains several sleepingClubbas, including a particular room with many more Clubbas than normally encountered; however, the Clubbas will not wake up if Mario walks by them instead of running. InPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a room in Sublevel Two of thePalace of Shadow containsSpike Traps that emerge from the ground suddenly, which must be dodged by moving slowly around them. Another section in the Palace of Shadow requires Mario to walk across narrow passageways where falling off results in him being hurt. Since walking requires the analog stick to be tilted slightly (tilting it fully instead makes Mario run), the Slow Go Badge is ideal in these situations.
Merluvlee's prediction inPaper Mario[edit]
- "I see...a Slow Go Badge. In the far depths of the ruins, there's a hidden room beyond where the Hammer lies. You climb up high, then land on the upper edge of the Hammer room. You walk carefully around to find the hidden chest."
