ASlow Flower is found inSuper Paper Mario. If the player uses it, everything slows down briefly. In addition to jumping and running slowly, Mario's flip meter drains and refills slower. During the slowed time,points andcoins that are earned earn are tripled, and if an item increasing the player's points (such as aGold Medal) is used, the amount of points earned is tripled again. One ofCount Bleck's moves has the same effect as the Slow Flower.

Game audio is also affected by the Slow Flower:

• The background music's tempo is halved and its pitch is lowered by one octave.
• The sound played when an enemy is defeated, which is a faster, higher-pitched version of the same sound from the originalPaper Mario, is played at its tempo and pitch from that game.
• "Ground BGM" can be heard as the background music when the Slow Flower is used at the beginning of Chapter 3-3,The Dotwood Tree.

TheSpeed Flower's effects are the opposite of the Slow Flower: it speeds up the game instead of slowing it down. If the player obtains a Speed Flower during the slowed time, time will return to normal. Exiting the area it was collected in, such as via a door or pipe, will also return time to normal.
