Overview[edit]
Mario Kart 7[edit]
InMario Kart 7, the Slim tires resemble American white-wall tires with red and silver rims. In terms of their stats, they are, in a way, a less extreme version of theRoller tires. They provide a small boost to acceleration and a better one to handling (tied with theWood and theMushroom tires) while hindering speed, weight and off-road. The Slim, Wood, and Roller tires are also the only tires to offer a positive sea handling boost, but the Slim tires do not affect the sea speed stat, and unlike the Roller tires, the Slim tires provide a high boost to drift while having one of the lowest mini-turbo and off-road stats.
Mario Kart 8 /Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]
The Slim tires return inMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe, where they have an appearance different from their appearance inMario Kart 7, and are available from the start. Their stat distribution is also different fromMario Kart 7 in that they boost speed and handling, at the expense of some acceleration and traction. There is a variant of the Slim tires called theCrimson Slim tires that also appear in this game. They share stats with the Crimson Slim and theTriforce Tires that come with theThe Legend of Zelda ×Mario Kart 8 DLC pack.
CPUs tend to only use these tires whenever they are using theStandard Bike; this applies to all medium-sized characters, the lightweightLarry andWendy, and the heavyweightLink. However, a CPU-controlledLuigi will also use these tires alongside theMach 8 kart body. Likewise, a CPU-controlledMario will use these tires whenever he is using theComet bike body. Additionally, a CPUWaluigi will occasionally pair the Standard Bike with Slim tires. Finally, a CPURosalina will use these tires with aSport Bike body as one of her combinations.
InMario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Slim tires have slightly different stats, and while they still have the same stats as the Crimson Slim tires, they now share their stats with theWood tires instead of the Triforce Tires.
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
Slim tires return inMario Kart Tour, where they are used by theBruiser,Yellow Taxi,Platinum Taxi,Happy Ride,Star-Spangled Flyer,Black Carriage,Mach 8,Landship, andMach 8-R. On the Bruiser, Yellow Taxi, Platinum Taxi, Happy Ride, Star-Spangled Flyer, and Black Carriage, they have theirMario Kart 7 appearance, while on the Mach 8, Landship, and Mach 8-R, they have theirMario Kart 8 appearance. TheMario Kart 7 tires also have seven alternate versions; a rainbow version is used by theParty-Wing andRainbow Taxi, a brown, red, and yellow version is used by theTiger Bruiser, a white and gold version is used by theGrand Badwagon, a black and gold version is used by theWhite Bruiser, a pink version is used by theIce-Cream Minibus, a brown and yellow version is used by theChocolate Banana Minibus, and a gold version is used by theGold Bruiser; while theMario Kart 8 tires have a yellow version used by theGreen Double-Decker.
