TheSkull Gem, also referred to as theSkull Stone byFlavio[1], is an important item inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It is a red crystal which resembles a skull. Flavio's ancestors stole this gem fromCortez long before the events of the game. The Skull Gem is needed to activate Cortez's ship, theBlack Skull. It is also needed to access thePirate's Grotto. Before Mario travels toKeelhaul Key, the gem can be found on the table next to Flavio inPodley's Place.
