Ski Lifts, also referred to asChairlifts, occasionally appear in snow-themed levels in theSuper Mario franchise. They are fastened to tracks and are used to cross bottomlesspits. TheGonzola is a similar object.

Yoshi's Island series[edit]
Ski Lifts in theYoshi's Island series usually move back and forth along their rails, though sometimes instead they move in one direction and fall off when they reach the end. In many cases, they are already ridden in byDr. Freezegoods which must be removed or avoided. Ski Lifts inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island andits remake are the titular focus of the stageRide The Ski Lifts. Ski Lifts appear also inYoshi's New Island, with the same role as in the predecessor in the levelSki Lift Leap.
Super Mario 64 /Super Mario 64 DS[edit]
A single Ski Lift (referred to as agondola)[1] appears inSuper Mario 64 andSuper Mario 64 DS, at the bottom of the explorable portion ofCool, Cool Mountain. It is on a diagonal rail stretching from near theMother Penguin at the bottom up to near where the head portion of theHeadless Snowman is. In the middle of its range is a small floating island with aBob-omb Buddy, as well as aStar Switch in the remake. The Ski Lift always starts at the bottom, moving only onceMario,Yoshi,Luigi, orWario lands on it and stopping again after it returns to the bottom if he has left it.
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]
Chairlifts appear inDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and itsremake as objects on the map ofRazor Ridge. There are two sets of chairlifts, each being run by a twin member of theBrothers Bear.Benny's Chairlifts are needed to complete the world, thoughBjörn's Chairlifts are only needed to reach asecret cave. The latter set starts out broken and requires theNo.6 wrench to return it to normal operation.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]
Chairlifts inPaper Mario: Sticker Star make upWhiteout Valley, where there is a lengthy set of them. Chairlifts were run by theforebear ofThe Enigmansion before his passing, and are rendered operational again when Mario uses thePaperize ability on the forebear's portrait, bringing it to life. While riding it, Mario can swing back and forth to collect coins and avoid theFuzzies that drop from the rails.Luigi can be seen riding one in the background at one point, and can be plucked out via Paperization.
