Silver the Hedgehog is a crossover character from theSonic the Hedgehog franchise. He is a hedgehog from the future who has the ability to use psychokinesis which allows him to move objects with the power of his mind. Silver's only appearances in theSuper Mario franchise are in theMario & Sonic series. He was originally voiced byPete Capella, who voiced him inMario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games; but was later replaced byQuinton Flynn, who voiced him until 2017.Bryce Papenbrook later replaced Flynn in 2019, first voicing him in theSuper Mario franchise inMario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.

Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
Silver makes a few cameo appearances in theSuper Smash Bros. series. He can be seen running in the background of theGreen Hill Zone stage along withTails andKnuckles inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl,Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl andSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, there is atrophy of Silver as well as asticker in the former game. InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, Silver has his own collectiblespirit.
One of Sonic'salternate costumes introduced inSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS /Wii U is colored similarly to Silver.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games[edit]
Silver appears inMario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games as a Skill type playable character. His signature move for theWii version is Levitate and Teleport Dash for theDS.
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games[edit]
Silver returns as a Skill type playable character in the Wiiversion ofMario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, where he can be seen in the opening with all of the other athletes at the beginning, and later competing inBeach Volleyball. AMii outfit based on Silver appears as an unlockable item in the game, and Silver also appears as a character that can be spoken to in London Party mode in order to play minigames and earn stickers.
In the Nintendo 3DSversion, Silver is included in the Challengers group, meaning that he is only playable in certainEvents. In the Story Mode, Silver first appears withShadow after defeating someimposters, where they askYoshi, Sonic and Tails what they know about thePhantasmal Fog and imposters. He later helps the group chase downJet, and then defeatBowser Jr. so that Shadow can destroy thefog machine and clear the area. Silver later appears callingMario,Luigi, Sonic and Tails to support them when they faceBowser andDr. Eggman, and also appearing at the opening ceremony. In the bonus episodes, Silver appears with Shadow facing some of Dr. Eggman's robots, but after Bowser Jr. defeats them both himself, they challenge him to an Olympic event instead. When Bowser Jr. wins, Silver and Shadow pretend to be angry at first, but later congratulate Bowser Jr. before heading off. Abadge of Silver can be obtained from the badge machine.
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games[edit]
Silver reappears as a playable character inMario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. He is once again a Skill type character.
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games[edit]
Silver reappears inMario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as a playable character. In theNintendo 3DS version, Silver is exclusive to110m Hurdles andArchery.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020[edit]
Silver reappears inMario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 as a playable character. Like many other characters of theSuper Mario franchise andSonic the Hedgehog series, Silver wears outfits that are event-appropriate.
He also appears as a playable character inthe arcade version, where he was the first character added after its initial launch, being added on February 28, 2020. Here, he is a Technique-type character with excellent technique, above average power, and low speed.
Unused appearances[edit]
Silver is one of the characters who was planned to be playable inMario & Sonic at the Olympic Games before later being removed. This is evidenced by an unused character model of him present in theWii version.[1]

Silver the Hedgehog is a new competitor for Team Sonic. Coming from the distant future with telekinetic abilities, Silver's signature moves are the Levitate ability on the Wii and DS and Teleport Dash ability on the DS. Expect the unexpected when this time-travelling hedgehog takes on the Olympic Winter Games.
