Notes[edit]
- Shy Rangers fill a similar niche to Metal and Liquid Metal Slimes from theDragon Quest series, being difficult to defeat but offering a substantial experience reward. WithinSuper Mario RPGs, this niche is later filled byAmazy Dayzees,Gold Beanies, andGold Koopeleons.
- Shy Ranger is the only enemy inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that is immune to all four "elements" (Jump, Fire, Thunder, and Ice).
- Shy Ranger is also the only respawnable enemy that is immune to critical hits fromGeno Whirl.
- Spy Guys fromPaper Mario and Shy Guys that assistGunner Guys fromMario & Luigi: Superstar Saga to attack Mario orLuigi both sport camouflage patterns on their coats (and masks in Spy Guys' cases).
- Shy Ranger in the Japanese version and the remake takes notice ofMallow'sThought Peek when he uses it on them; in the middle of its thought, it tells the player to "stop reading [its] mind".
