Shy Guy Desert is the third course inMario Golf for theNintendo 64. It is unlocked by obtaining 300 course points. The course is largely a desert, possessing bunkers, cacti, waste area (acts similarly to deep rough) and abundant sand. As a result, there are no water hazards, andrain rarely falls here. Most holes are surrounded by beige-colored sand which counts as out of bounds. Shy Guy Desert is the longest course in the game at 6706 yards (6132 metres), and winning the course's tournament, the Shy Guy International, awards the player with 600 course points. Every time a hole is completed, a silhouette of aShy Guy's face briefly appears.

Shy Guy Desert was remade asLayer-Cake Desert forMario Golf: World Tour, where it appears as Flower Pack downloadable content and is based onLayer-Cake Desert fromNew Super Mario Bros. U.
