Shroob Castle is the corrupted version ofPeach's Castle set in the past after it was taken over by theShroobs. It is the setting of the final chapter inMario & Luigi: Partners in Time. TheSave Album refers to it asPeach's Castle (Past), despite the fact thatPrincess Shroob has complete control over it. However, the name "Shroob Castle" is mentioned on theKoopa Cruiser. As it is one of the last areas in the game, the castle houses some of the strongest enemies.

Appearance[edit]

The cellar

The castle towers are changed into tallpurple mushrooms, along with all the pillars and bushes. The castle itself glows purple. Inside, a lot of the castle seems the same as the original, only darker, with the Shroobemblem and more purple in coloration. The map resembles the one of the present-day castle. Glowing purple mushrooms grow all over and a giant statue of the castle's ruler,Princess Shroob, can also be found here.Shroob saucers fly around the exterior of the castle. Beneath the castle is an underground cellar, and unlike the Shroob castle, it has the same music as the cellars in the present-day castle. It has a few enemies, most of them beingShroobsworth,Shroob Rex, andSoul Bubbles. A regularChain Chomp pestersMario,Luigi,Baby Mario, andBaby Luigi here as well.

Beanholes[edit]

Every Beanhole contains oneBean.

Second area: From the first room, the player should head to the west exit. In this next room, the player should go north and the beanhole is seen in the middle of the middle carpet.
Second area: From the last bean, the player should return to the previous room and in there, the player should head to the east exit. In this next room, the player should go north and the beanhole is seen in the middle of the middle carpet.
Third area: After entering the third area, the player should head southeast and fall down. After falling down, the beanhole is seen behind the brothers.
Third area: After returning to the pipe, the player should head to the northeast exit to the next room. In here, the player should head southeast. The beanhole will be seen on the way.
Fourth area: After entering the fourth area, the player should head to the northeast exit, In the next room, there are two exits, the southwest one and the southeast one. The player should head through the southwest one to reach the balcony. Once on the balcony, the player should take few step south and the beanhole will be seen partially hidden on the left.
Fourth area: Also on the balcony, from the last bean, the player should head east. This beanhole will be seen also partially hidden.
Second area (after defeating giant Chomp): After using the pipe from the cellar, the Bros. return to the second area. The player should head northeast to the exit. In the next room, the player should keep going northeast until the purple block is reached. Activating this block opens the red gate and reveals the baby-only entrance. The player should go to the newly revealed entrance and use the Baby Drill to get inside. Once inside, the beanhole is seen right away. To get to it, the player should use Baby Drill on the fifth step.
Second area (after defeating giant Chomp): After the last bean, the player should head back to the main room through the southwest exit. The player should head south in this and the next 2 rooms. In the room after that the player should continue on the path. In the next room, the player should go through small arch in the northwest corner. Once in the another room, the player should keep going north through another arch. Once inside, the beanhole is seen right away, so the player should use the Baby Drill to get behind the bars to reach the beanhole.
Second area (after defeating giant Chomp): After the last bean, the player should head back through the southwest exit, continue south in this and another room. In the next 3 rooms, the player should head west, south and east (in that order). In the room after that, the player should continue along the path to reach the top-level of the courtyard area. Once outside, the player should keep going along the path until the hole in the wall is reached. The player should head inside. The beanhole is seen right away.
Second area (after defeating giant Chomp): In the same room, after the last bean, the player should head east. This beanhole is found on in the middle of the fourth column.
Third area (after defeating giant Chomp): After the third area is reached again but this time from the right side, the player should head southwest until the Bros. fall. After falling, the beanhole is seen behind the brothers.
Third area (after defeating giant Chomp): After the last bean, the player should return to the pipe and head through the northwest exit. In the next scene, the player should head southwest, until 3 beanholes are seen in the south part of the room.

Music[edit]

The music in Shroob Castle is a key-shifted arrangement of the Shroob theme, which plays in the opening scene as well as while the four Bros. are aboard theShroob Mother Ship. No music plays in the room of the time hole; the music starts only after the player enters through the gate, which is blocked off until the player defeats theElder Shrooboid at theStar Shrine.

• By using a series ofglitches, it is possible to enter Shroob Castle after learning theBros. Ball technique fromToadsworth andToadsworth the Younger. This way, it is technically possible for the player to defeat the final boss while having only collected two Cobalt Star shards.^[1]
• When visiting Shroob Castle the first time before the fifthCobalt Star shard is obtained,Stuffwell talks to the bros. about this castle and how it is blocked off.
