Overview[edit]

Shipwreck Shore
The Kongs at the surface of the water, near a Spring Platform. Behind them is aSnaggles.

The level starts out on a beach surrounded by trees andPointy Tucks on the ground. AnItem Handle hiding aWatermelon Fuse Bomb lies ahead, as well asclimbing grass on the bottom of a long branch. After clearing some platforms and vines, the player can swing onto the large ship which containsTucks, as well as a barrel forDixie Kong. When the player brings her into the game, she swaps out withDiddy Kong for the second character (and vice versa when bringing in Diddy Kong). Following the ship, the player goes to an area with swinging platforms above water containingFinleys and another letter. After leaving there, the Kongs swing to a rocky shore (containing a secret where if the first rock wall is touched, it reveals aflying banana) containing a checkpoint, as well aProfessor Chops, who tells the player that they can utilize DK and Dixie's special attack on enemies which gives them extra lives from defeated enemies. After going through the rocky shore area, the Kongs find Professor Chops underwater, who introduces another move: the ability to do a roll and break objects. After finding a Puzzle Piece and letter below the surface, the Kongs get back up by breaking a crate blocking the way, followed by another checkpoint which leads them to a similar rocky-shore area withMonocle Monicas andPunchy Paddies. After the Kongs swim underwater below the floating boxes, the game instructs the player to hold theA Button button, which allows the characters to swim through underwater vortexes that block the way. After swimming through a tunnel, the Kongs can come back to shore and hit aSlot Machine Barrel, ending the level.

Secret exit[edit]

Shipwreck Shore
Donkey Kong andDixie Kong, on the path to thesecret exit

Right in the pit of water on which threecrates (whereon severalPunchy Paddies hop on) float, there is a trail ofbananas going down. The player has to swim in the direction indicated by the bananas in order to enter the path to the secret exit, marked by two enormous chains; however, a strong propeller at the bottom of the path hinders the player from passing. In order to go through the water current,Dixie Kong is needed. Underwater, her ponytail transforms into an improvised propeller when the player holdsA Button on theWii U GamePad. The aforementioned path leads to a portal, which, in the end, warps the player into the room with a mysteriousSlot Machine Barrel. Upon wrecking this barrel, theKongs are allowed to go toZip-Line Shrine, the first secret level of the game.
