Variant ofSeedle

Seedlusas are enemies that appear inMario & Luigi: Brothership. They are silverSeedles with red glowing eyes and red,Glohm-like wirework protruding from their silver, cable-like sprouts, now resembling antennae. As a whole, they resembleReclusa, and as such, their name is a portmanteau of "Seedle" and "Reclusa" as well. They are encountered in theSoli-Tree where they hop away fromMario andLuigi if they are near. Seedlusas can grow to become a large plant with a silver stem, red-glowing roots, dark blue petals with orange lines, and have glowing red-white happy eyes.

At the top of the Soli-Tree, Seedlusas are among the horde of minions Reclusa sends after Mario and Luigi. Two battles each involving four Seedlusas, the second alongside aReclusiff, are required to be fought. While their Seedle forms look the same, when grown, these Seedlusas have black petals with red lines, and have glowing red-orange happy eyes.

Battle[edit]

Seedlusas start battles in their Seedle form, faced away from Mario and Luigi. When it is the enemy's turn, they might look around before sweating, or they can flee the fight entirely. If there is only one Seedlusa left, it cannot run away. Seedlusas in this form have low HP but extremely high defense. If a Seedlusa is defeated in this form, it rewards much less experience. If a Seedlusa is the only enemy remaining in the battle, it will burrow into the ground and transform into their large plant form, where they have extremely high HP but lose their high defense. While in their plant form, they have three attacks:

  • The Seedlusa can summon five flower buds around the Bros. before they open one by one, releasing slow shockwaves. The order of which buds will bloom is determined by the order they emerge from the ground. Some buds might rise in the air, indicating that the shockwave will occur above the brothers. Mario and Luigi mustjump to avoid the shockwaves generated by the buds close to the ground and duck (no input required) under the ones generated by the elevated buds. This attack can inflict theGlohm status effect.
  • Seedlusas can rush around Mario and Luigi, sometimes changing direction or running into them. This attack must be countered by using thehammers. If a charactercounterattacks the attacking Seedlusa, it will spin into the other character as an additional attack. This attack ends if the Seedlusa is defeated or after a set amount of time.
  • After several turns have passed, the Seedlusa can charge up before spewing out many electrical orbs at the Bros. Many of them miss, but some of them are launched to the brothers, dealing high damage upon contact. Mario and Luigi must use their hammers to repel oncoming orbs. All orbs that fly to Mario and Luigi shine light below them, allowing the player to track which orbs they need to worry about. After the attack is over, the Seedlusa will wilt, defeating itself in the process. The Seedlusa does not give Experience nor coins if it is defeated this way.

A Seedlusa can be found accompanyingWeeping Troopers and/orReclusiffs. A Seedlusa is of Level 43, with 32 hit points and giving 490 Experience Points and 69 Coins when defeated. The flower monster it turns into has a Level of 44 and 3086 hit points and give 2601 Experience and 360 Coins when defeated before it can unleash its orbs.
