Schnautzels[1] are yellow boar-likeenemies with large snouts that appear inDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switchport. They are encountered in two levels,Windmill Hills andHorn Top Hop. Schnautzels attack by shooting rows of sixfireballs out of their nostrils. Schnautzels tread back and forth slowly between each attack while remaining focused on theKongs, who can defeat a Schnautzel by eitherstomping orrolling into it three times, or by throwing abarrel at it. Schnautzels can be stunned with aGround Pound, a state in which they lift their leg up and rotate their head dizzily. A Schnautzel briefly appears in the short introduction cutscene of Windmill Hill. A Cheesy Chester holds up a stick with some bananas on it in front of a Schnautzel, who then proceeds to burn the bananas.

Naming[edit]

The name "Schnautzel" is a pun mixing the German wordsSchnauze ("snout") andSchnitzel ("cutlet"), as well as the English word "snot".
