Sand clouds, also referred to assand storms[1] ordust clouds,[2] are objects inSuper Mario World andits reissue. Any coloredYoshi with aYellow Shell orflashing shell in its mouth can cause a small earthquake and generate sand clouds every time the player lands after ajump, also defeating nearby enemies on the ground. It does not work againstWigglers,Pokeys,Banzai Bills,Mines, flashing shells,Fuzzies,Dino Rhinos, and enemies trapped inbubbles. The sand cloud stunsGoombas,Bob-ombs, andBuzzy Beetles. After Yellow Yoshis become available in the game'sStar World, the player is able to use a Yellow Yoshi to eat any coloredKoopa Shell to attack using sand clouds. The sand cloud ability lasts as long as the player keeps the Koopa Shell in the Yoshi's mouth, but the Yoshi eventuallyswallows the shell and loses this power.

If you pressB Button when a Red Yoshi has any color Shell in its mouth, it shoots Fireballs rather than spitting out the Shell. Yellow Yoshis holding Shells in their mouths kick up dust clouds when the Yoshis land from a jump. And Blue Yoshis can fly (pressA Button) when they have any Shell in their mouths. The Yoshi also has the usual powers granted by the Shell. For example, a Red Yoshi who eats a Blue Shell can shoot Fireballs and fly." – Stratton, Bryan (February 26, 2002).Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2–Prima’s Official Strategy Guide.Prima Games (American English).
