Rotary Lifts[1] are spinningplatforms that first appear inSuper Mario Bros. 3, and they return in the game'sreissues inSuper Mario All-Stars andSuper Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. There are three kinds of Rotary Lifts: those that spin for a short time and then stop before they resume spinning shortly afterward, those that spin endlessly, and those that tilt based on where the player is standing on them. The first of these is similar to theSpinning Logs fromSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Rotary Lifts appear inWorld 3-3,World 3-6,World 5-4,World 6-4, andWorld 6-10. In the Game Boy Advance version, they also appear in twoWorld-e levels,A Towering Tour andAn Aqueous Adventure, the latter being their only underwater appearance.
Rotary Lifts also appear in the Modern version ofDonkey Kong Jr. inGame & Watch Gallery 3 andGame & Watch Gallery 4. WhenDonkey Kong Jr. gets thekey on the first stage, a Rotary Lift appears left ofDonkey Kong's cage. If Donkey Kong Jr.jumps onto the lift as it spins, he falls to the second floor.
