Red Spaces (orred spaces), known asminus spaces inMario Party 5 andLose Coins Spaces inMario Party 10, arespaces in theMario Party series. When a player lands on a Red Space, they will losecoins (three to twelve, depending on the game and the specific circumstances). InMario Party 7 andMario Party 8, aBonus Star may be awarded to the player who lands on the most Red Spaces. Also, like with all of the other spaces inMario Party 8, the shape is different on eachboard, including the tutorial. InMario Party 9, Red Spaces have been replaced byMini Ztar Spaces. Red Spaces reappear inMario Party: Island Tour, where they are known asDanger Spaces and appear 12 times only inBanzai Bill's Mad Mountain. These spaces may hurt the chance of advancing, as they are crossed by aBanzai Bill when it is launched.

Naming[edit]
InMario Party 5, these spaces are referred to as "minus spaces" inEldstar's explanation of them in the rules board[1] and in a message inBowser Nightmare after the effects ofBowser's walk from a? space wear off.[2] However, they are instead referred to as "red spaces" during theLast Five Turns Event[3][4] and the Party Mode results screen.[5]
