Red Blocks (also formatted asred blocks)[1][2] areblocks in theSuper Mario series. They start out asDotted-Line Blocks, but after the player hits a! Switch, they become solid.

New Super Mario Bros.[edit]
InNew Super Mario Bros., the effect of hitting a switch to make Red Blocks solid is temporary, and the switches hit are reusable.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
InNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, Red Blocks are instead activated and deactivated by giant ! Switches on theWorld 3 map. Red Blocks appear only inWorld 3-4 andWorld 3-5, where activating them helps the player reach the mainGoal Pole of the former and thesecret Goal Pole of the latter. The switch is inaccessible unless the other exits to thoselevels are found.
Super Mario Run[edit]
InSuper Mario Run, Red Blocks work as they do inNew Super Mario Bros. They appear prominently inRed Block Run, but they can also be found in other courses, such asSwitch Ghost House.
