- —Rat Funk,Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
Rat Funks are blue-colored rodents that reside inKero Sewers and theForest Maze inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars andits remake. They are cowardly creatures, and will oftenflee from battle. Rat Funks are also extremely fast, allowing them to attack before the party. Since these rodents are fairly weak, they tend to travel in numbers or with stronger monsters, includingHobgoblins. In battle, a Rat Funk attacks by slapping its tail at aparty member. Their tails can also be used topoison their enemies. These rodents are relatives to the brown-coloredAlley Rats.

Notes[edit]
- Rat Funk's Japanesethought parodies a line from the theme song to the 1971 anime adaptation ofShin Obake no Q-tarō.[2] This reference is removed in the English translations of the SNES and Nintendo Switch versions; however, the latter's script alludes to the quote's origins by encouraging the reader to "sing along with the rat funk."
