Queen Merelda is a supporting character that appears in the gameWario Land: Shake It! She is the queen of theShake Dimension. Her name is an anagram of "emerald" and a play on the Spanish and Portuguese word "esmeralda," which means "emerald."
Merelda and her loyal subjects, theMerfles, were imprisoned by the evilShake King and his pirate gang (who attempted to take over the locale and also stole the Shake Dimension's treasure, theBottomless Coin Sack). However,one of Merelda's Merfles managed to escape intoWario's world, requesting help to rescue Merelda and the Shake Dimension from the Shake King's evil grip. After Wario rescues her, she walks up to thank him for his actions, only to be grabbed and tossed aside as Wario goes for the Bottomless Coin Sack instead, which Captain Syrup later stole.

She and her loyal subjects, the Merfles, have all been captured by the vile Shake King, who has seized control of this once-peaceful land. As if that weren't bad enough, the Shake King has stolen the realm's greatest treasure as well! That actually turns out to be a good thing, though-it's the only reason Wario decides to pitch in and lend a hand.[2]
