Queen B. is a largeZinger and the queen of the species. She is the third boss ofDonkey Kong Country, fought at the end ofVine Valley inBumble B. Rumble. Here, Queen B. tries to stingDonkey orDiddy Kong with her massive stinger by circling around the arena, first flying across the top then across the bottom. Because she has spikes on her back, Queen B. cannot be stomped. Queen B. can be attacked by throwing abarrel at her, causing her to turn red and fly around the level. During this phase, Queen B. is invulnerable, and she moves toward theKongs in a wave-like motion. After a while, Queen B. turns back to yellow, and the Kongs can throw another barrel at her. Each time she is hit, Queen B. begins to move around more quickly until eventually being defeated after five hits. Unlike the other bosses in the game (besidesDumb Drum), Queen B. does not have any stars spinning around above her head when she is defeated.
In theGame Boy Advance version, Queen B., while red, is protected by normal Zingers, which have to be defeated before Queen B. can be attacked. Queen B. always moves in a wavy motion, regardless of her coloration and vulnerability, and she directly homes in on the Kongs, but only while vulnerable. This time when defeated, she has spinning stars hovering over her like the other bosses. Additionally, in the dialogue fromCranky Kong after Queen B.'s defeat, he incorrectly uses the pronoun "him" to describe Queen B.
A similar boss appears inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest,King Zing, who is the king of the Zingers.
