Protobatters are enemies found inside thePump Works ofBowser's body inMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. A more powerful cyan variation calledPwallops appear in theEnergy Hold.
Design[edit]
Protobatters have spherical, cream-colored bodies with a black "o"-shaped mouth, a pair of simplistic arms, brown, shoe-like feet, and raised, black eyes. They wield black clubs with white spikes.
Behavior[edit]
In the field, Protobatters tend to linger in one spot, but if they spot an intruder, they run toward them.
Battle[edit]
Protobatters attack by spitting out a piece of batter and slamming it with their club at the Mario Bros. The direction a Protobatter holds its club indicates which one of the Bros. will be attacked (with a backhand strike meaning it targetsMario, and a forehand strike meaning it targetsLuigi), and it may miss the swing up to two times in an attempt to lower the player's guard. This attack can be countered with thehammer. Protobatters will also grow up to two to three times larger wheneverMario andLuigi attack them.
