Power-up Panels
- “Feeling lucky? Step right through the door to win some items!”
- —Toad,New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Power-up Panels is aminigame that is played inRed Toad Houses inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii. It takes place in a room with a six-by-three grid ofFlip Panels decorated with question marks. The backside of each has an image of apower-up, aBowser emblem, or aBowser Jr. emblem. Players must take turns climbing around thefence andpunching the panels, causing them to flip and reveal their backsides. It is possible to steal another player's turn byground-pounding on them during their turn. If two Bowseremblems or two Bowser Jr. emblems are matched, the minigame ends. If all item panels are revealed, the minigame ends and the characters rejoice. At the end of the minigame, players receive one item for every pair of identical panels with revealed faces. Up to seven items can be received in a game.
This minigame is similar to theMatching Game fromSuper Mario Bros. 3; the method by which the panel combination is generated is also similar to the card combination's method in that minigame, as a predetermined combination is chosen from a small set of six possible arrangements in eachworld.
