Possessor
Thepossessors (capitalized in the British English version) are a group of fiveghosts that appear as major bosses of the mansions inLuigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, each fought in the final mission of its respective mansion. While each one has their own set of unique abilities, each is capable of possessing another object or being and control them. Unlike other ghosts, possessors do not have a setHP, instead only being able to be captured byLuigi'sPoltergust 5000 once he completes three phases of the boss fight. Each one drops a shard of theDark Moon upon being defeated. The initials of the first words in their names (Grouchy, Harsh, Overset, Shrewd, and Tough) spell out the word "ghost".
The concept of possessors is followed up on inLuigi's Mansion 3, whereAmadeus Wolfgeist,Ug, andCaptain Fishook are all bosses that spend a significant amount of their fights possessing an object, are much longer than other bosses in the game, and guard a kidnapped Toad.
Types[edit]
Grouchy Possessor[edit]
The first possessor is the Grouchy Possessor, found in theCellar of theGloomy Manor and is fought during the final mission,Confront the Source. It possesses a giant spider and uses its abilities to fightLuigi.
Harsh Possessor[edit]
The second possessor is the Harsh Possessor, found in theTree House of theHaunted Towers and is fought during the final mission,Tree Topping. It possesses a giant staircase and sets it aflame to fight Luigi.
Overset Possessor[edit]
The third possessor is the Overset Possessor, found on theBelfry Clock of theOld Clockworks and is fought during the final mission,Showtime. It possesses a giant clock and summons other enemies to fight Luigi.
Shrewd Possessor[edit]
The fourth possessor is the Shrewd Possessor (Scornful Possessor in the British English version), found in theWorkshop of theSecret Mine and is fought during the final mission,Chilly Ride, though it briefly appears in theprevious mission. It possesses the frozen ground beneath Luigi in hopes of escaping with itsDark Moon shard.
Tough Possessor[edit]
The fifth and final possessor is the Tough Possessor, found in adifferent dimension through theparanormal portal in theTerrace of theTreacherous Mansion and is fought during the final mission,Stop the Knightmare. It possesses giantsuits of armor to fight Luigi, but is able to form trails of electric energy when outside of the armor.
