Pixel Toad isToad in 8-bit form. He appears inCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker, when the player uses their Toadamiibo to play Hide and Seek. When activated, the player must locate Pixel Toad hidden somewhere in a stage. Once caught, a stamp of Pixel Toad is marked on the level that was played.
In theNintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game, the ability to play Hide and Seek with Pixel Toad is unlocked in a level after beating it once; the Toad amiibo instead grants anInvincibility Mushroom when scanned.
To commemorateCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker's release on theNintendo Switch andNintendo 3DS, four Pixel Toads were hidden on theMy Nintendo website, each of which would earn the user Platinum Points when tapped.[1]
Although Pixel Toad himself does not appear inSuper Mario Maker, the Toadcostume heavily resembles him.
