Para-Biddybuds (alternatively written asParabiddybuds[1] orPara-biddybuds)[2], also known asWinged Biddybuds,[3] are a variant ofBiddybud that first appears inSuper Mario 3D Land. They resemble multicolored ladybugs with bird-like wings.

Super Mario series[edit]
Super Mario 3D Land[edit]
Para-Biddybuds are enemies inSuper Mario 3D Land. They are encountered in groups and fly in circles or in lines. Some groups are seen one above the other or one after the other.Mario can defeat them with any attack, just likeGoombas. They generally appear in groups of five, though there are some levels in which less than that number are shown together or they appear individually.
Super Mario 3D World /Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]
Para-Biddybuds are enemies inSuper Mario 3D World andits Nintendo Switch port. They behave identically as inSuper Mario 3D Land. Cat variants appear inLake Lapcat in the port'sBowser's Fury side-story.
Super Mario Maker[edit]
Para-Biddybuds are referenced inSuper Mario Maker by appearing on the icon of the Event CourseCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker, which uses key art from the game on which it is based.
Mario Party series[edit]
Mario Party: Island Tour[edit]
Many Para-Biddybuds populate theStar-Crossed Skyway board inMario Party: Island Tour. However, they do not affect gameplay. A pink one also appears as a tile in the minigameMatch Faker.
Super Mario Party Jamboree[edit]
Para-Biddybuds reappear inSuper Mario Party Jamboree in the minigameSqueaky Shakedown where they are present in the background, and can occasionally appear in the minigameCamera-Ready. Green, red, and blue Para-Biddybuds also appear in the minigameWhich Door Has More?. They are also featured in the Paratroopa Flight School mode and appear in Sky Battle (where the main objective is to try to gather as many of them as possible and steal them from the other player) and Free Flight. A big Para-Biddybud known as theMega Para-Biddybud makes an appearance in this mode.
In theNintendo Switch 2 Edition of the game, Para-Biddybuds appear in the Carnival Coaster ride in the Carnival Coaster mode as obstacles that the players can shoot to earn more seconds on their timer.
Mario Kart series[edit]
Mario Kart 8 /Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]
Despite Para-Biddybuds themselves not appearing inMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe, a kart designed after a Para-Biddybud appears, known as theBiddybuggy. It has five different color schemes depending on the character driving it.
In Wave 5 of theMario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass, the courseSqueaky Clean Sprint features an alarm clock styled after a Para-Biddybud as part of its scenery. Wave 6 adds the Para-BiddybudMii Racing Suit fromMario Kart Tour.
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
Despite Para-Biddybuds themselves not appearing inMario Kart Tour, the red and blue color schemes of the Biddybuggy return, now as separate karts. Additionally a Para-Biddybud Mii Racing Suit made its debut starting in the2023 Doctor Tour. The alarm clock styled after a Para-Biddybud in Squeaky Clean Sprint also appears since the course was added in theVacation Tour.
Mario Kart World[edit]

In addition to the Biddybuggy returning fromMario Kart 8, Para-Biddybud appears as a playable character inMario Kart World, marking its playable debut in both theMario Kart series and theSuper Mario franchise as a whole. Itsemblem consists of a stylized depiction of a Para-Biddybud, though without its feet or irises. It is unlockable in version 1.0.0, but made available from the start following a software update, and is among the lightest characters, alongsideBaby Peach,Baby Daisy, andSwoop. The sound effects for Para-Biddybud are changed to be much higher in pitch.
Dandelion Depths, a new course introduced in this game, is themed around Para-Biddybuds, also featuring the Para-Biddybud construction brand on and around it.
In addition to the playable Para-Buddybud, flocks of three Para-Biddybuds appear as obstacles on Dandelion Depths and on certain roads. If a character comes into contact with at least one of them, they will be knocked out for a short while.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]
Para-Biddybuds are enemies inCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker andits Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS ports. They appear in certain stages such asDrop-Road Dash. Para-Biddybuds can be defeated from aturnip or being landed on.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[edit]
Para-Biddybuds are usable troops in theBowser Jr.'s Journey mode inMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. Red, green, yellow, and blue color variants can be used, and each has a differentSpecial Skill. Despite their coloration, blue Para-Biddybuds are referred to as purple in this game. They are flying troopers. Red Para-Biddybuds have Dive Attack and are strong againstFawfulcopters, green Para-Biddybuds have Super Stomp, yellow Para-Biddybuds have Cranium Crush, and purple Para-biddybuds have Mega Tackle and are strong againstShy Guys andBandits. All four variants are weak against redKoopa Troopas andFly Guys.
