Paper Spikes are paper forms of the regularSpike enemy that appear as enemies inMario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Paper Spikes are encountered during the second visit toDoop Doop Dunes, sometimes joined by their regular counterpart andPokeys, and one is fought alongside a regular Spike, aHammer Bro and aPaper Hammer Bro as one ofBowser's last lines of defense inNeo Bowser Castle. They attack like their regular counterpart, by throwing small spike balls which must be jumped over or big spike balls which must be hammered back.

Rare, shiny variants can also appear in place of the regular Paper Spikes in the same areas. These Paper Spikes have greater stats, though their methods of attack remain the same, and will always drop aBoo Biscuit and aLV 2 Character Card upon defeat.
