Paper Koopa Troopas are paper forms ofKoopa Troopas that appear as enemies inMario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Like with their normal counterpart, they attack by hiding in their shell and then firing themselves at Mario and Luigi in a circular manner, and if stomped will damage another enemy involved in the battle. Two Paper Koopa Troopas may also merge together into a big shell and attack one bro, which must be hammered away and can also damage another enemy. Paper Koopa Troopas are commonly found atTwinsy Tropics and one is fought inNeo Bowser Castle alongside a regular Koopa Troopa, aGoomba and aPaper Goomba as one of Bowser's last lines of defense.

Rare, shiny variants can also appear in place of the regular Paper Koopa Troopas in the same areas. These Koopa Troopas have greater stats and will always drop aSuper Mushroom orShiny Battle Card when defeated, though their methods of attack remain the same. Stronger versions of a shiny Paper Koopa Troopa can also appear alongsideShiny RoboBowser during the battle, which have even greater stats and has a chance of dropping aDouble 1-Up Mushroom upon defeat.
