P Blocks are objects inSuper Mario Maker 2 that can be placed in everylevel style. Similar toON/OFF Switches, they are activated or deactivated whenever the player hits aP Switch; they are outlined when deactivated, and when activated, they become solid blocks that cannot be destroyed by any means. Due to the effect being temporary, the blocks operate in a similar way to theDotted-Line Blocks fromSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its sequels.

InSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, yellow blocks similar to P Blocks appear in the room containing the second10-flower coin in the levelThe Midway Trial: Hop to It. These blocks do not have the letter "P" printed onto them and are instead activated by a! Switch.

Prior to the P Block's debut, inSuper Mario World, someHidden Blocks can be revealed only by pressing Blue P-Switches, making them similar to P Blocks.
