"Overworld Theme"[1] is a musical theme composed byKoji Kondo forThe Legend of Zelda, where it plays in the overworld. In addition to reappearing consistently throughoutThe Legend of Zelda series, the theme makes several appearances in theSuper Mario franchise duringcrossovers withThe Legend of Zelda.

The Super Mario Bros. Super Show![edit]
The first appearance of "Overworld Theme" in theSuper Mario franchise is inThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, where in the episode "Stars in Their Eyes", theQuirks play an arrangement of the theme near the end of the episode, causingKoopa's rocket to malfunction internally.

InWarioWare: Smooth Moves, a brief orchestral arrangement of "Overworld Theme" is one of the songs that the player can conduct in level 3 of theOpening Nightmicrogame. It is titled "The Legend of Zelda" in theSound Studio.

In the North American and European versions ofDonkey Konga and the Japanese version ofDonkey Konga 2, a Latin-inspired arrangement of "Overworld Theme" is included as a playable song. This arrangement also incorporates "Fairy Fountain" from the same series as a bridge, and briefly includes the series' "Important Item Acquired" jingle. It is titled "The Legend of Zelda Theme". It is also included in the official albumDonkey Konga: The Hottest Hits.

It is likewise titled "Hyrule Circuit" in theNintendo Music app and the officialMario Kart 8 Original Soundtrack album. This arrangement also incorporates "Zelda's Lullaby", another recurring theme from the same series. A looping drum set beat is added to the instrumentation whenever the player is driving at top speed while in first place.
