Wing Mario Over the Rainbow (retitledOver the Rainbows inSuper Mario 64 DS) is a secretlevel inSuper Mario 64. It is entered from a light-emitting hole on the ledge left ofTick Tock Clock, also having one ofWario'srabbits.
Layout[edit]
There are a few large cloud platforms, which are traveled between using either theWing Cap or one of the twocannons, both opened by speaking to theBob-omb Buddy on a pink platform next to the lower cannon. Two of the clouds are transparent, meaning that they can beflown through but not stood on; one of the clouds has aRed Coin in the original version only, and the other cloud has a1-UP Mushroom. There are also greenpoles hanging from a cloud, where the Red Coin is relocated to in the remake. The remake features twotrees and aBlack Brick as well. If the player character falls into theabyss, he lands in the lake in front of theMushroom Castle with no life lost, or just outside the level in the originalSuper Mario 64 if he loses all health.
Missions[edit]
Cloud Hopping for Coins[1][edit]
Mario must fly around the level to collect the eight Red Coins, then aPower Star appears at theStar Marker on the first cloud. The remake adds a Bob-omb Buddy next to the upper cannon who shows where the Red Coins are.
Black Brick (DS only)[edit]
A Black Brick is on one of the clouds, and it is only breakable by Wario after he eitherlong-jumps or uses a cannon to go over and destroy it for a Power Star.

Notes[edit]
- This is the only secret course that utilizes cannons. It is also one of the few areas in the game to have more than one cannon, along with theBob-omb Battlefield andCool, Cool Mountain.
- InSuper Mario 64, Wing Mario Over the Rainbow is counted as a cold course, as Mario does not fall asleep while in it; instead, he shivers as he would if he were on Cool, Cool Mountain and inSnowman's Land. One possible reason for this might be to acknowledge the lower temperature due to high altitude. However, since neitherRainbow Ride norTower of the Wing Cap, both of which are also sky-themed, is counted as a cold course (as Mario falls asleep and does not shiver while in them), one likely explanation is that the theme is simply meant to attribute the same soft-stepping sound effect and embedment from falling attributed to snowy surfaces to the clouds found here.
- InSuper Mario 64 DS, Over the Rainbows is no longer counted as a cold course, as Mario and others fall asleep in it like usual. The remake does introduce a new cold course,Chief Chilly Challenge.
- Due to data loaded to the course that is unimplemented in the final, it would seem originally the course was to be quite different, asBlarggs are assigned to this location.
