Nolrem is a supporting character that appears inSuper Paper Mario. He is, as his name suggests, theFlopside counterpart ofMerlon. The two share a strong resemblance aside from Nolrem's differently colored clothes, such as a gray cloak and hat over pink robes. Unlike Merlon, he does not need to be visited in his house, instead visiting the heroes at eachHeart Pillar whenever they place in aPure Heart in Flopside.
As told by both himself andCarson, he (among unspecified "others like him") is descended from theTribe of Darkness, making him the only known living remnant of the tribe other thanCount Bleck. HisCatch Card description states he is a descendant of the Ancients, like those ofMerlee and Merlon. Whether this is meant to suggest that he is a descendant of the Tribe of Darkness and the Tribe of Ancients following a reintegration of some kind, or it is simply true by default in that Tribe of Darkness originally branched off from theTribe of Ancients, is unclear.
While hisFlipside counterpart Merlon is generally hopeful due to his strong faith in the heroes and the outlook of theLight Prognosticus, Nolrem displays a slightly more pessimistic view of things at times despite being just as friendly - his slightly more fatalistic attitude falls further in line with theDark Prognosticus, even facing theend of all worlds with a sad, yet calm resignment. Despite this, Nolrem does everything he can to support the heroes and avert the dark book's predictions, still possessing hope and assisting in fighting the prophecy of destruction like his Flipside counterpart.
