Nemos,[1] also namedNautilus,[2][3][4] areenemies inDonkey Kong Land. They are underwater enemies appearing in only one level—theKremlantis levelNautilus Chase. Similarly toCroctopuses, Nemos chaseDonkey Kong orDiddy Kong, except they do not follow a linear path, but rather in whichever direction theKong isswimming. A Nemo appears dormant at first, but when the player character swims past the Nemo, it emerges from its shell and travels after the Kong in quick darting motions. Like with most enemies, a Nemos damages the Kong on contact. Like the game's other aquatic enemies, Nemos cannot be defeated. The Nemo eventually stops chasing the player character before moving into a corner within the coral.

Naming[edit]

Nemos' name is taken fromCaptain Nemo, who pilots the submarine called theNautilus in the science fiction novelTwenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, likely in reference to the enemy itself being a nautilus.
