Mushroom Kingdom II
- This article is about the Mushroom Kingdom II stage. For other locations named the Mushroom Kingdom, seeMushroom Kingdom (disambiguation).
Mushroom Kingdom II is the secondMushroom Kingdom stage inSuper Smash Bros. Melee and a returning stage inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. InSuper Smash Bros. Melee, it can be unlocked by collecting theBirdotrophy, while it is available from the start inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. Despite the name, this stage is actually inSubcon, fromSuper Mario Bros. 2. The stage has a platform in the middle, and two on the side. A waterfall forms huge gorges that separate the three. Occasionally, logs will fall down the waterfall, creating temporary platforms. APidgit will occasionally fly in (with itsmagic carpet making another platform) and a pink Birdo also appears occasionally, spittingBirdo's Eggs (which can be grabbed and thrown) at fighters. The upper platforms on both sides of the stage however make it easy for the players to self-destruct if they proceed to walk off the screen there or get pushed away by Birdo when she leaves the screen.
InSuper Smash Bros. Melee,Luigi's unlock match takes place here, and he is also fought in "Event Match 40: All-Star Match 4" as the second in order of opponents, preceded by Marth and followed by Jigglypuff.
Cherries, grass,Semisolid Platforms, andjars appear in the background of the stage. The whole stage hasSuper Mario All-Stars graphics (though only the ground, logs, and magic carpet are in 3D, and the color palette is based onSuper Mario Advance); these graphics are overhauled forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, and now use the actual graphics fromSuper Mario All-Stars, albeit in much less saturated colors. Birdo also makes the same sound effects it did inSuper Mario All-Stars. Like other stages inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, for the first time it can now opt for Battlefield and Ω forms, but above a wide waterfall that stretches across the screen rather than just the center as in its normal form.

Notes[edit]
- The official strategy guide only mentions that the Birdo trophy is required to unlock the stage, even though the Pidgit trophy can also be collected to unlock the stage before collecting the Birdo trophy.
- Due to the fact the player has a random trophy by default when starting a new game, it is possible to receive the Birdo trophy and unlock the stage before even starting the game, causing the stage unlock message to play as soon as the main menu is first accessed.
- Although the stage isSuper Mario All-Stars-themed, the NES overworld music plays instead; the boss theme plays when the timer runs low in timed matches.
- Much like with the sped-up music inMushroom Kingdom, the boss music will play during aSudden Death match and on Super Sudden Death.
