Mr. Blizzards, also known asSpinning Snowmen,^[1] are livingsnowmen in theSuper Mario franchise, first appearing inSuper Mario 64. They hop up and down and throwsnowballs.

Super Mario 64 /Super Mario 64 DS[edit]

InSuper Mario 64 andSuper Mario 64 DS, Mr. Blizzards are found onCool, Cool Mountain and inSnowman's Land. They hide in the snow until approached, at which point they pop out and throw snowballs at the player. Mr. Blizzards can be defeated by throwing acrate at them, or circling around them until they fall onto their sides and disappear (leavingcoins behind the first time). Two others, found on a bridge on Cool, Cool Mountain, simply jump back and forth across it and pay no mind to the player. IfMario loseshis cap to the giant snowman and does not retrieve it before the game is closed, a Mr. Blizzard will have it on the next visit (provided it is not recovered from aToad).

InSuper Mario 64 DS, Mr. Blizzards are also found inChief Chilly Challenge.Wario can defeat them with apunch, andYoshi can defeat them with anegg projectile and can also melt them with hisfire breath while using aPower Flower. As with many of the enemies, their look is updated, though their attack pattern remains unchanged. They now have zigzag mouths, wear blue buckets for hats, and have solid yellow mittens instead of yellow ones with a single pink stripe. They are defeated by spinning, instead of falling on their sides and shrinking. Unlike in the original version, Mr. Blizzards do not respawn after Mario walks far away and returns to that spot.

Mario Party series[edit]

Mario Party 3[edit]

Mr. Blizzards' first appearance in theMario Party series was inMario Party 3. In this game, they appear as a battle partner in duel boards. As a battle partner, Mr. Blizzard has threeHP and one attack point. His special ability allows him to always hit the farthest target.Chilly Waters also features many Mr. Blizzards; most of them are purely for decoration, but a large one sits at the top of the board and throws snowballs when paid fivecoins or when someone lands on aHappening Space. Anyone who fails to jump over the snowballs will be forced to run from them.

Mario Party 4[edit]

InMario Party 4, Mr. Blizzards appear in theminigameMr. Blizzard's Brigade, now with a giant version that throws bigger snowballs.

Mario Party 5[edit]

InMario Party 5, Mr. Blizzards appear as theMr. Blizzard Capsule. When an opponent lands on thespace with the Orb, a Mr. Blizzard falls on the player, causing them to lose all theirOrbs. In the minigameLater Skater, a few Mr. Blizzards make appearances out of bounds.

Mario Party 6[edit]

InMario Party 6, Mr. Blizzards return with the Mr. Blizzard Capsule, now called theMr. Blizzard Orb, which has the same function as before.

Mario Party Advance[edit]

Mr. Blizzard appears as a character inMario Party Advance. According to his description, he is on theSnowtown Ice Stars team and regularly plays at theIce Stadium. He is found practicing pitches at said stadium, and is annoyed if he is approached while practicing. Once he asks what the player is doing there, they ask him to pitch some snowballs at them, and Mr. Blizzard says that he will reward them with aGaddget if they hit a home run. Once they do, he passes it off by saying that he was not trying, but still gives them theMini Slugger. Afterwards, he gets back to his practice.

Mr. Blizzard also appears within the snow globe ofSnow Globe.

Mario Party 7[edit]

InMario Party 7, Mr. Blizzards again return with the Mr. Blizzard Orb. In this game, their design is updated to theSuper Mario 64 DS one.

Mario Party 8[edit]

InMario Party 8, Mr. Blizzards appear in the minigameAlpine Assault. Their only purpose is to obstruct the player.

Mario Party 9[edit]

InMario Party 9, only two Mr. Blizzards appear, larger than their past incarnations. They are in the minigameSnow Go, in which they attack the player by tossing snowballs at them. Getting hit by a snowball results in the player's being frozen. In the Museum, a constellation based on the snowmen, under the name ofCold Guy, can be purchased.

Mario Party: Island Tour[edit]

InMario Party: Island Tour, Mr. Blizzard is the third boss to be fought in theBowser's Tower mode (being faced off against on the fifteenth floor). He hosts the minigameMr. Blizzard's Snow Slalom, where the player rolls into him with snowballs. Meanwhile, Mr. Blizzard throws damaging snowballs at them.

Mario Party: The Top 100[edit]

InMario Party: The Top 100, some Mr. Blizzards reappear out of bounds in the minigame Later Skater fromMario Party 5. Mr. Blizzard also makes a cameo appearance on the box art fromMario Party 3 in the Collection mode.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

InSuper Mario-kun, Mario first meets a group of Mr. Blizzards inVolume 16, where they block Mario,Red Bob-omb,Tuxie andHeadless Snowman's path. After failing inGround Pounding them, Mario tosses Red Bob-omb at them, blowing them up.

A Mr. Blizzard appears in theMario Party 3 adaptation inVolume 27.

Mario Pinball Land[edit]

InMario Pinball Land, Mr. Blizzards appear in theFrosty Frontier Stage. They throw snowballs to push Mario away from them, and unlike many other enemies in the game, they cannot be defeated and only get stunned for a short period of time when Mario collides into them.

Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix[edit]

InDance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, Mr. Blizzards are found inFreeze Mountain and dance to "Frozen Pipes".

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]

Mizzter Blizzard, a Mr. Blizzard wearing aRoyal Sticker, appears as the boss ofWorld 4 ofPaper Mario: Sticker Star, and also marks the species'Paper Mario debut.

Mario Golf: Super Rush[edit]

InMario Golf: Super Rush, Mr. Blizzards appear in Golf Adventure as minions of theSnow King. In the frozen-overBowser Highlands, they target nearby players and attempt to trip them up by throwing snowballs at them. They can be defeated by launchingBob-ombs at them. The Snow King can also summon Mr. Blizzards during the battle against him.
