Moscow
Moscow (Russian:Москва,Moskva) is the capital city ofRussia. It appears in thePC,SNES, andNES versions ofMario is Missing! In the NES release, the entrance to Moscow is located in the fourth room, alongside the one leading toMontreal. It appears much earlier in the SNES and PC versions, in which it is one of five citiesLuigi has to visit in order to defeatLudwig von Koopa on the first floor, the others beingRome,Beijing,Nairobi andSan Francisco. During the events of the game, Moscow is full ofKoopa Troopas, and in order to secure the city, Luigi has to visit three landmarks and return one artifact to each that was stolen by the Koopas. The three landmarks are theKremlin,St. Basil's Cathedral, and theBolshoi Theater. In the PC version, instead of the Kremlin, the Koopas robLenin's Tomb and theMoscow Metro; additionally, this version contains Moscow's fictional mayor,Mayor Schmutznikov.
Moscow is also mentioned inThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show! live-action segment "Captain Lou Is Missing". Officials from the city sendCyndi Lauper a message stating that the missingLou Albano is nowhere to be found, and request more 8-track tapes.Mario suggests to send them his Jim Nabors tapes.
