Mimics[1][2] areenemies that first appear inDonkey Kong Country Returns. They are bushes with glowing yellow eyes and two short legs that inblend in with the scenery because they appear only in silhouette levels of theDonkey Kong Country series.

Donkey Kong Country Returns (3D /HD)[edit]
Mimics first appear inDonkey Kong Country Returns and return in itsenhanced ports for theNintendo 3DS andNintendo Switch,Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D andDonkey Kong Country Returns HD respectively. They are found in only one level, theJungle levelSunset Shore. Whenever a Mimic is approached by theKongs, it hops up and chases them. Touching a Mimic causesDonkey andDiddy (as well asDixie inDonkey Kong Country Returns HD sinceVer. 1.1.0) to lose a heart point, like with most enemies. A Mimic can be defeated from either ajump or aRoll Attack. If Donkey KongHand Slaps with a Mimic on the screen, leaves will shake off from the bush; the leaves also move around slightly while regular bushes have no animation.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze[edit]
Mimics return inDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its enhanced Nintendo Switch portof the same name, reprising their roles in its predecessor. The game also introduces a bigger variety known asLarge Mimics. Mimics appear in only one level—theLost Mangroves levelBusted Bayou—along with Large Mimics.
