Metal Mawful Moles are metallic and stronger variations of theMawful Mole inMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. They are found inPeach's Castle Garden. As with their regular counterparts, Metal Mawful Moles throw boulders at trespassers into their territory.Bowser can instantly defeat them by colliding with them in the overworld or with hisFire Breath. If he trespasses in their territory, the creatures will retreat underground.
Metal Mawful Moles have two basic attacks. In the first one, they will throw a rock atMario orLuigi. They can throw the rock right at the bros, or above them. If their glasses are covered with dirt, the moles will throw it above Mario or Luigi's heads and they will not have tojump over it. If the Metal Mawful Mole's glasses are not dirty, the creature will throw the rock right at the bros, who will have to jump over it. It is actually possible to jump on the rock if it throws it low, but the player must have extremely good timing. The next attack has them go underground and pop back up in front of Mario or Luigi. The Mario Bros. canhammer their heads as the moles come up, but if they are too slow, the moles will jump on their head and cause damage. Whether the moles strike or not depends on how quickly their emergence happens and how far up they rise. If they come up slowly and remain submerged neck-deep, they do not strike. If they pop up quickly and more fully, they will attack.
In the original Nintendo DS version of the game, it is possible to battle this enemy as a regular enemy asBowser via battle with a specificMechawful, although it will not attack, and will retreat in one to two turns.
InMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, Metal Mawful Moles take critical damage from hammer attacks.
