History[edit]
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]
A Big Cheep Chomp[1] makes its first appearance as an obstacle on the water surface ofLong Fall Falls inPaper Mario: Sticker Star. They are made of cardboard and have a propeller-like tail. When entering the level, a Big Cheep Chomp emerges from the water and starts chasing Mario throughout the entire river, charging and jumping onto the raft to destroy parts of it. If all parts of the raft are destroyed, Mario receives aGame Over. At the end of the waterfall, the Big Cheep Chomp propels itself into the sky while Mario continues his descent.
If the level is replayed after collecting the Comet Piece on the left path, the Big Cheep Chomp will become more difficult to evade each time, moving faster and tricking the player.
Mario Party 10[edit]
InMario Party 10, a Mega Cheep Chomp is featured as the mid-boss ofWhimsical Waters in story mode. Its minigame,Mega Cheep Chomp's Shell Shock, involves each player launching their threeKoopa Shells to inflict damage. Mega Cheep Chomp targets the player who last hit it. If a player is caught, Mega Cheep Chomp lunges at them, costing them two points. When Mega Cheep Chomp becomes angry, two or threeCheep Cheeps swim around Mega Cheep Chomp to help protect it from the shells.
This battle features mechanics quite similar toWhomp Stomp, as in both boss minigames, the players must avoid being attacked by the boss by baiting it into attacking another player.
