Paper Mario series[edit]
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]
Meat appears inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door duringBowser's sidescrolling level segments (World 1,World 2, andWorld 3) in his intermissions. Like the Mushrooms that makeMario grow when he is inSmall Mario form, meat makes Bowser larger. Meat can be found by hitting certain? Blocks. If Bowser takes a hit from an enemy, he will shrink down by one level. Getting enough pieces of meat in one level will make Bowser gigantic, allowing him to smash through everything in the level, similar toMega Mario. The meat used in the game resembles a leg of lamb.
Hot Dogs are also a meat-based item that Mario can acquire, being sold for 10coins at theHot Dog Stand.
Hottest Dogs, introduced in the game'sNintendo Switchremake, are a meat-based item that can be made by givingZess T. a Hot Dog andHot Sauce.
Super Paper Mario[edit]

Giant pieces of meat,[1] each pierced through with a bone, can be found floating amongPull Stars in theBoo Race Zone ofGhostly Galaxy fromSuper Mario Galaxy and itsNintendo Switchport. They act like bumpers that have to be avoided in the missionsA Very Spooky Sprint andPurple Coins in the Bone Pen, as they will bounce Mario or Luigi away if they come into contact with them.
Super Mario Odyssey[edit]
- “See that slab of meat? Sure you do. Butthat bird hasn't. Not yet. Don't know what he's waiting for. When he sees it though? That bird's gonna make off with our meat. I bet you do anything he does! ”
- —Volbonan,Super Mario Odyssey
A huge chunk of meat appears inSuper Mario Odyssey as acapturable object in theLuncheon Kingdom, during the objectiveBig Pot on the Volcano: Dive In!, residing on theMeat Plateau. After capturing the meat,Mario shakes off the salt covering it. This causesCookatiel to come and pick the meat up in its talons, dropping it into the huge bowl ofStupendous Stew on top of Mount Volbono. Once there, the player can reach the mission'sMulti Moon. The meat is the only capturable target in the game that can be captured only once and never again post-game.
Ascenario inThe Art of Super Mario Odyssey depictsVolbonans seizing a sleepingT-Rex and "turning it" into this slab of meat,[2] but no such scenario is depicted in the final game or implied to have happened. T-Rexes do not occur in the Luncheon Kingdom.
Mario Kart Arcade GP series[edit]
InMario Kart Arcade GP andMario Kart Arcade GP 2, Meat is an unlockable item for Bowser. It is a recovery item; upon being used, it removes all bad conditions from the user's kart, such asSquare Tires, burst tires, orThunder Cloud. In addition, the Meat provides a shield for approximately half a second upon being used. With good timing, this can be used to block incoming items or be immune to the explosion of aTime Bomb. InMario Kart Arcade GP, a variant of the Meat known as the Meat+ can be unlocked. This variant greatly increases the duration of the shield the item provides.

In the remake, a type of drumstick known as aCheesy Drumstick appear, which completely restore Bowser's HP andBP, replacing the role ofStar Candies fromMario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. In the battle with Bowser andBowser X, when he reaches hisFury status, he will eat a drumstick, fully restoring his HP.

However, Bowser canpunch orburn them away before he has a chance. Bowser can alsoinhale the meat, which will give him aPOW boost.
During the "victory feast" after the battle, some of the food included at the banquet features meat, which include large drumsticks, hot dogs with sauce, steaks of both flatiron and ribeye variants, fish, and ham (although only the hot dogs and drumsticks are actually able to be eaten at the player's prompting).

Bowser inhales multiple servings, but they run out before he gets very large. Regardless, Bowser still becomes giant for a boss battle. During the battle, one attack hasSpear Guys come out of a fortress carrying meat. This meat is thrown in a arc and into Bowser's mouth, which heals him. This can be negated by swingingGiant Luigi'shammer into the bridge, using the shockwave to disrupt Bowser's attempt to eat. Bowser's final form,Dreamy Bowser, can retreat into the background while leaving enemies for Mario and Luigi to fight against. Until all of the enemies are defeated, he uses his turn to create and eat a pile of meat, healing his arms by 200 HP and his body by 150 HP.
