Mayor Smallburg is a character exclusive to thePC version ofMario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor ofMadrid. His name is a pun on "small burg", i.e. a small town. Like all other mayors in the game, they contactLuigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Smallburg states that the landmarks are in chaos. Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Smallburg, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure. Later in the game, a newspaper article inKathmandu describes them meeting withMayor Schmutznikov,Mayor Devotegetter, and the mayor ofMarrakech in Montana as "The 'M' Club".

In the MS-DOS version, Smallburg is depicted as a woman while theCD-ROM Deluxe version is depicted as a man. In the European CD-ROM versions, like all mayors, Smallburg's appearance changes every time the player starts a new game or resumes the saved file.
