Mario Circuit 4 is the fifth and lastrace course of theStar Cup inSuper Mario Kart. It was subsequently reused inMario Kart: Super Circuit as the third track of theExtra Star Cup. It is a tarmac circuit set in a grassland. This is the first of two Mario Circuits from the series set in the Star Cup; the second is theDS version.
Mario Circuit 4 is one of three courses inSuper Mario Kart that has yet to appear in a laterMario Kart game other thanMario Kart: Super Circuit, the others beingBowser Castle 1 andBowser Castle 2, and is the only one of these three to not be a Bowser Castle. It is the onlyMario Circuit course inSuper Mario Kart with this distinction, and as such, it is the only Mario Circuit course inSuper Mario Kart that does not appear inMario Kart Tour. It is also the only Mario Circuit course inSuper Mario Kart to be excluded fromMario Kart World, despite the other three being integrated intoone combined track.
Super Mario Kart[edit]
Course layout[edit]
The longest of the Mario Circuits, it is still a straightforward course of normal road, withpipes andoil slicks as the only hazards. The overall layout is very similar to that ofMario Circuit 3, but more difficult and mirrored. Additionally,Feathers are disabled for this track to prevent racers fromjumping over the walls and thus saving a lot of time. The course begins with a U-turn to the left followed by a right turn and the only set of? Panels. There is then a sharp right turn followed by a sharp left turn, and then two 90° turns to the left. A straightaway then leads racers into a sharp U-turn to the right followed by a brief straight and a sharp U-turn to the left. After a slight right turn and a left turn, racers reach the finish line.
Shortcuts[edit]
A notable shortcut can be found after the second left U-turn. Similar to the shortcut found in Mario Circuit 3, the player can use aMushroom orStar to drive through the off-road to the right of the track, passing through a gap in the wall and cutting off the last right turn.
Mario Kart: Super Circuit[edit]
Mario Circuit 4 reappeared inMario Kart: Super Circuit, and is the third track of theExtra Star Cup. It uses the background fromPeach Circuit. The pipe and oil slick hazards were removed from the track and an item box can be found next to the shortcut.
