TheMandibug Stack[1][2] is a mini-boss introduced inSuper Mario Galaxy. It is a normal-sizedMandibug with a smaller Mandibug on its back.

History[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]

A Mandibug Stack in Honeyhive Galaxy.
The Mandibug Stack on the Tower

The Mandibug Stack is a mini-boss inSuper Mario Galaxy and itsNintendo Switchport. It is encountered in theHoneyhive Galaxy mission "Trouble on the Tower." WhenMario orLuigi performs aGround Pound on the smaller Mandibug atop it, the Mandibug Stack becomes enraged, turns red, and approaches the player character faster than a regular Mandibug. When the Mandibug Stack itself is ground-pounded, it is defeated, revealing the mission'sPower Star.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]

The Mandibug Stack is a mini-boss inSuper Mario Galaxy 2. It is encountered in thePuzzle Plank Galaxy mission "The Puzzling Picture Block." The Mandibug Stack behaves and is defeated the same as in the predecessor. It shares its boss theme withKing Lakitu andBoulder Bowl Galaxy'sPrankster Comet mission, which in turn is a variation ofBaron Brrr's boss theme fromSuper Mario Galaxy, unlike in the first game, where it has no theme at all. Along withBugaboom, the Mandibug Stack is one of the only two bosses originating fromSuper Mario Galaxy that reappear in the sequel not to be fought in theBoss Blitz Galaxy.
