Lucky Start is abadge inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It is found inCreepy Steeple, though only afterMario defeats theAtomic Boo, who is formed after Mario is swarmed by Boos and knocks them away with theSuper Hammer. If the badge falls into the hole in the floor after the Atomic Boo is defeated, it cannot be retrieved. However, it will become available for purchase fromLovely Howz of Badges for 70 coins so it can be obtained.

When equipped, Mario will enter every battle with a randomly-selected, positive status condition that will last for 3 turns:

• HP Regeneration — Recover 2HP per turn.
• FP Regeneration — Recover 2FP per turn.
• Dodgy — 50% chance of evading incoming attacks.
• Electrified — Direct attackers will fail their attack and take 1 damage. Negates Electrified condition of enemies.

All of these effects are shared with another badge or item in the game, namelyHappy Heart andSlow Mushroom,Happy Flower andGradual Syrup,Repel Cape, andZap Tap andVolt Mushroom respectively.

If both the Lucky Start and Zap Tap badges are equipped, the Electrified condition can still be selected to occur, but nothing happens as Mario will already have this condition from the Zap Tap badge.
